An arts programme was held in Ho Chi Minh Ciy on May 19, to celebrate the 128th birth anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh.

The 100-minute event gathered hundreds of artists and performers, who brought to the stage songs and dances praising the Party and Uncle Ho, as well as the beauty of Vietnam’s land and people.

Addressing the event, Nguyen Thi Quyet Tam, Vice Secretary of the municipal Party Committee and Chairwoman of the city’s People’s Council, expressed her deep gratitude for the huge contributions of the beloved national leader to the country’s independence and freedom.

She reaffirmed the determination of the city’s Party committee, authorities and people in studying and following Uncle Ho’s thoughts, morals and lifestyle, and make further efforts towards the city’s development.

The same day, several young people who stood out in the campaign of studying and following President Ho Chi Minh’s moral example were honoured at a ceremony in Ho Chi Minh City on May 19.

By hounouring these young faces, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee hoped to help the campaign to spread further into society.

After the ceremony, the participating youths joined a tree-planting activity at the HCM City history – culture park in District 9.

Also yesterday, local authorities and people in Truong Sa island district, Khanh Hoa province, joined a ceremony to offer incense in commemoration of President Ho on his 128th birth anniversary. - NDO
