Located in the southern key economic region, Ba Ria-Vung Tau province is considered as important transportation and trade gateways for the region and the world. In 2018, the province received 60 international delegations and diplomatic corps in Vietnam with more than 500 visitors, completed the signing of a memorandum of understanding cooperation with the authority of the Veneto Region (Italy), and implemented an international agreement on the dispatching personnel program with the Government of Izumiotsu City (Japan) for the period 2018 - 2019.

There are currently 351 foreign investment projects with a total registered capital of US$ 27,324 million. As of November 2018, the province has reviewed and granted lisences to organizing 27 international conferences and seminars in the fields of education, training, commerce, health, etc. The province supported 13 delegations with 94 correspondents from foreign news agencies operating in the locality. The province had 899 turns of cadres and civil servants going abroad, including 792 exit cases for personal reasons.

At the same time, the provincial foreign activities continues to consider external information as a central point to introduce and promote the local brand. In addition to various forms of plentiful and diverse propaganda through external bulletins, magazines, special issues, and films;  as well as conferences, seminars, and meetings with foreign organizations, Ba Ria-Vung Tau has taken advantage of foreign journalists and reporters working in the locality, closely coordinated with foreign diplomatic missions in Vietnam and communication channels such as VTV4, the World and Vietnam Report, Vietnam Economic News, Journal of Foreign Affairs, etc. to report foreign affaris events taking place in the province, provide the information on the provincial socio-economic situation, and propagate the oriented fields to call for potential foreign investment investing into the province.

In addition, Ba Ria-Vung Tau always focuses on building legal bases and organizing activities related to cultural diplomacy in the province. In 2018, the province organized or co-organized with foreign localities signing memorandums of understanding with Ba Ria-Vung Tau, as well as foreign units and agencies to conduct cultural exchanges such as participating in the program of Indian Ocean Music Festival 2018 in Padang City (Indonesia); organizing cultural exchange between Ba Ria-Vung Tau province (Vietnam) and Pohang city (South Korea); celebrating the 65th anniversary of the attack on the Moncada Barracks (Cuba); and visiting the naval ship Surcouf (France), etc.

Moreover, the awareness of the Vietnam Sea Strategy and the Sea is part of the sacred structure of the nation, the province is particularly pays attention to directing border management and building a green sea economics in order to preserve the values of Vietnam Sea; protects the legitimate rights of the nation and the people, and develops the advantages of deep-sea seaports with favorable natural conditions for the province. Up to now, 69 seaport projects have been mainly planned on two navigable channels (namely Vung Tau-Thi Vai and Dinh River), and 47 of 69 seaport projects have been put into operation with a total capacity of 137 million tonnages per year.

It can be said that the outstanding results of external activities in 2018 have contributed to promoting the activeness of all levels and sectors in the process of building and developing locality in order to bring Ba Ria-Vung Tau more increasingly comprehensive integrated into the world in the fields which the province has the potential and strengths.
