NDO – Japanese music band ‘Kuricorder and Friends’ will grace the stage with two special concerts, the first in Hanoi on January 12, 2018 and the second in Ho Chi Minh City on January 14, 2018.

The events will be hosted by the Japan Foundation Centre for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam as part of the activities to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam – Japan diplomatic relations.

‘Kuricorder & Friends’ is formed from Kuricorder Quartet, Beautiful Hummingbird and Chiku Toshiaki.

Kuricorder are well-known as a flute quartet. They play various kinds of flutes, together with other musical instruments, such as the melodica, saxophone, tuba, ukulele, Jew's harp and percussion.

The ensemble is famous for the theme music of a famous Japanese TV programme titled ‘PythagoraSwitch’ on NHK channel.

‘Kuricorder and Friends’ began their tours to Southeast Asia in 2015. This will be the third time that they have performed in Vietnam after tours in 2013 and 2016.

Artist Ngo Tra My, one of the most well-known Dan Bau (Vietnamese monochord zither) players in Vietnam, will join the concerts as a special guest.

The performance in Hanoi will take place at 8pm at the Youth Theatre at 11 Ngo Thi Nham Street; while the programme in Ho Chi Minh City will began at 8pm at the City Conservatory of Music.
