Gala night held for Vietnamese in Laos ahead of Tet Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Ba Hung sends his best wishes to overseas Vietnamese in Laos at the gala on January 28

The General Association of Vietnamese People in Laos held a gala night for overseas Vietnamese people on January 28 to welcome the upcoming Lunar New Year (Tet) festival, attracting nearly 400 overseas Vietnamese people in Laos.

The event drew the presence of Saysomphone Phomvihane, Politburo member and Chairman of the Lao Front for National Construction (LFNC) Central Committee, Vilayvong Butdakham, Chairman of the Laos-Vietnam Friendship Association, and Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Ba Hung.

Chairman of the General Association of Vietnamese People in Laos, Nguyen Duy Trung, highlighted the significance and spiritual meaning of Tet for Vietnamese people, noting that Tet is a time for gathering together, consolidating solidarity, and educating younger generations about the fine traditions of the nation.

Vilayvong Butdakham spoke of the appreciation for the considerable contributions of Vietnamese people to Laos in the past struggle for Lao liberation and the current cause of Lao construction and defence.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Ba Hung expressed gratitude towards the Lao authorities and people for creating favourable conditions for overseas Vietnamese people in Laos to live and work.

He also showed his belief that a further consolidated relationship between Vietnam and Laos can develop in 2018.

The gala also featured song and dance performances on Vietnam and the special solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Laos. - NDO
