Las Vegas shootings: Vietnam takes measures to protect its citizens

Vietnamese Embassy in the US has been in coordination with the Consulate General of Vietnam in San Francisco to determine the Vietnamese nationality of a victim that is said to be among the casualties during the massacre in Las Vegas city, Nevada, on October 1 night (local time).

According to the embassy, on Tuesday afternoon, the Vietnamese community in Las Vegas informed about the identification of a victim who was a US citizen of Vietnamese origin killed in the shootings at a local music show on Sunday night.

Initial information revealed that the victim was Michelle Vo, a resident of Los Angeles and an employee of the insurance firm NYLife Securities.

Shortly after receiving the information, the Vietnamese Embassy in the US coordinated with the Consulate General in San Francisco to determine the nationality of the victim and implement measures to protect its citizens.

Earlier on October 2, shortly after the shootings, the embassy opened two hotlines at + 1-202-716-8666 and + 1-202-368-2265, posted on its official website at www.vietnamembassy-usa.org to provide timely assistance to Vietnamese citizens in need.

At the same time, the Vietnamese embassy has also contacted relevant US authorities to rewire necessary information if any among the victims are found to be a Vietnamese citizen and to take emergency measures to protect its citizens. - NDO
