Russian Minister of Industry and Trade welcomed in Hanoi
Mar 28 2019

Politburo member Nguyen Van Binh, head of the Party Central Committee’s Economic Commission, hosted a reception for Russian Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov in Hanoi on March 27.

At the reception, Binh reiterated Vietnam’s consistent stance of attaching importance to the comprehensive strategic partnership with Russia and considering Russia a leading partner in its foreign policy.

He said the two countries still boast huge potential to further develop their economic, trade, and investment connections and bring them on a par with the sound political relationship towards reaching the bilateral trade target of US$10 billion by 2020.

He affirmed Vietnam's readiness to offer favourable conditions for Russian enterprises to do business, engage in key projects in the fields of energy, industry, transport, and agriculture, and expand cooperation in IT and e-government building.

He added that Vietnam also welcomes Russian companies’ engagement in developing urban transport infrastructure in the country.

Binh urged both sides to work together more closely to facilitate economic, trade, and investment links as well as big cooperation projects, while capitalizing on the free trade agreement between Vietnam and the Eurasian Economic Union, of which Russia is a member.

At the meeting, Minister Manturov said his nation desires to beef up cooperation with Vietnam in a multitude of fields. It hopes to build on what the two sides have achieved and broaden partnerships in economics, trade, investment, culture, education, and people-to-people ties.
