The traffic volume on expressways remains high after Tet holiday

Unlike previous years, traffic volume on the expressways managed by Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC) on the days following Tet holiday 2017 continues its upward trend instead of going down.
With the average traffic volume at above
61,000 vehicles/day, which is 36% higher
than during Tet holiday and exceeded
55-60% in comparison with the traffic volume during weekdays, the Ho Chi Minh
City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway managed by Vietnam Expressway
Corporation (VEC) continues to see a great number of vehicles four days after
Tet holiday.
Besides, from February 1st to 4th,
2017, nearly 194,300 vehicles were recorded on the Cau Gie - Ninh Binh
Expressway, or 48,500 vehicles/day on average, an increase by 1.5 % as compared
to during Tet holiday and an increase by 65% in comparison with weekdays; the
Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway has served 122,139 vehicles, or 30,500
vehicles/day on average, an increase by 50-55% higher than on normal days.
The highest traffic volume on the Ho Chi
Minh - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway was recorded on February 4th with over
62,200 vehicles. This is also the most crowded day on the Noi Bai - Lao Cai
Expressway with 35,200 vehicles on the road.
In the past 4 days, 11,950 vehicles have
been put under load control, in which 256 were found to be overloaded and 207
were denied of service by VEC. - VEC
