Vietnam, China see culture as bridge to boost friendship
Jan 09 2018

Vietnam and China have agreed to further develop cooperation in culture, tourism and people-to-people exchange in a substantial manner.

The agreement was reached by Vietnam’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Ngoc Thien and Chinese Minister of Culture Luo Shugang at their talks in Beijing, China on January 7, which was made as part of the Vietnamese official’s on-going working visit to China.

At the function, the two ministers reviewed the outcomes regarding the implementation of the Vietnam – China cultural cooperation agreement for 2016-2018.

Prominent among those were the establishment of the Chinese Friendship Palace in Hanoi in November 2017, two photo exhibitions on Vietnam, China's beauty, and the signing of a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the culture industry.

The two sides agreed to look at culture as a friendly bridge linking peoples in the two countries, and reached consensus on orientations on culture cooperation for the 2019-2021 period, which would focus on cooperation in safeguarding intangible cultural heritage and art training.

During his three-day visit in China, Minister Nguyen Ngoc Thien is scheduled to work with Chinese National Tourism Administration and Chinese State General Administration of Sports. He will also visit the Vietnamese Embassy and attend a painting exhibition on traditional lunar New Year festival in Vietnam and China. - NDO
